At least 11 Palestinians, including five children, have been killed and dozens of others remain missing after a residential building collapsed in Gaza City, according to Palestinian rescue teams and local authorities. The building had been damaged during the war and was housing displaced families at the time of the collapse.

The six-storey building collapsed overnight in the Al-Sinaa area of western Gaza City, trapping residents and nearby displaced people under the debris. Rescue teams reported that around 100 people were either missing or believed to be trapped beneath the rubble, while at least 14 others were injured and taken for medical treatment.

Gaza Civil Defence teams, working with municipal crews and local residents, continued search and rescue operations under difficult conditions. Officials said the lack of heavy equipment has slowed efforts, forcing some rescuers to search through the rubble manually.

Residents said the building had suffered structural damage during previous attacks and had become a shelter for displaced families who had limited alternatives for housing. The collapse has renewed concerns over the safety of thousands of damaged buildings across Gaza that remain occupied amid ongoing displacement.

The incident comes as humanitarian organizations continue to warn about the risks posed by damaged infrastructure in Gaza. The United Nations has reported extensive destruction of buildings across the territory, with large amounts of debris and thousands of damaged structures creating ongoing safety challenges.

Authorities have not yet provided a final assessment of the cause of the collapse, while rescue operations remain ongoing and the death toll could rise as teams continue searching for survivors.
