26 Civilians, Including Women and Children, Killed in Attacks in Sudan’s South Kordofan State

At least 26 civilians, including women and children, have been killed in two separate attacks in Sudan’s South Kordofan state, according to the Sudanese Doctors Network, amid continued fighting, worsening humanitarian conditions, and rising displacement in the region.

The network said 21 civilians were killed in an attack targeting the areas of Debi and Loeri, located south and west of Kauda. It accused the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) of carrying out the attack, which it said also forced many residents to flee their homes.

The Sudanese Doctors Network condemned the targeting of civilians, describing attacks and forced displacement as violations of international humanitarian law and the principles of civilian protection.

In a separate incident, the group reported that five people, including a child, were killed and others wounded in artillery shelling that struck residential neighborhoods in the city of Dilling in South Kordofan. The network also blamed the SPLM-N for the attack.

Dilling, the second-largest city in South Kordofan, has previously faced military confrontations and a prolonged siege before the Sudanese army announced in January that it had reopened the road connecting the city.

The latest violence comes as clashes continue across the Kordofan region between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), alongside their allied SPLM-N forces. The fighting has resulted in further civilian casualties, displacement, and increased humanitarian needs.

The Sudanese Doctors Network recently reported additional attacks in South Kordofan that killed 27 people, including four children. Humanitarian organizations continue to warn of deteriorating living conditions, food shortages, health risks, and the urgent need to protect civilians and ensure aid reaches affected communities.
