Quran Manuscript Attributed to Imam Ali Displayed at Baghdad Book Fair

A rare Quran manuscript attributed to Imam Ali, peace be upon him, is among the most prominent heritage items being displayed by the Imam Ali Holy Shrine at the 27th Baghdad International Book Fair.

The Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine is participating in the book fair with a large pavilion showcasing more than 300 works spanning intellectual, cultural, academic and heritage fields.

One of the pavilion’s main attractions is a Quran manuscript attributed to Imam Ali, regarded by the shrine as one of the most significant manuscripts preserved in the Alawi treasury. The manuscript has drawn considerable attention from visitors because of its religious, historical and heritage significance.

The pavilion also features an 18-square-meter display dedicated to Nahj al-Balagha, presenting important editions of the work and prominent commentaries that illustrate its enduring scholarly significance.

Visitors can also view a collection of newspapers and magazines published in Najaf since 1910, offering insight into the city’s historical cultural and media movement. Among them are Al-Ilm, Al-I’tidal, Al-Hira and Al-Bayan.

The exhibition further includes manuscripts by the late calligrapher Jassim Najafi, along with selected examples from the Alawi treasury’s calligraphy collections.

The 27th Baghdad International Book Fair opened on September 2, 2026, bringing together more than 600 publishers from 28 countries. The event is scheduled to continue through September 12.
