Syria has temporarily suspended movement through the Al-Arida border crossing with Lebanon to allow maintenance work on damaged infrastructure, with authorities directing travelers to alternative crossings during the closure period.

The Syrian General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs announced that the Al-Arida crossing, which links Syria’s Tartous Governorate with Lebanon’s Akkar Governorate, has been closed to travelers as part of ongoing technical and reconstruction efforts.

According to the announcement, the temporary suspension of operations is related to repair works affecting the bridge and facilities connected to the crossing. Travelers have been advised to use alternative border points until normal operations resume.

The Al-Arida crossing has faced repeated disruptions in recent years due to damage to border infrastructure, including impacts from regional military tensions. Reconstruction and rehabilitation works have been underway to restore and improve the crossing’s operational capacity.
