Iraqi academics and researchers have called for greater investment in the scientific, cultural, and civilizational aspects of the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), emphasizing that the global event should not be viewed solely as a religious gathering, but also as a significant human and social phenomenon deserving further academic study and analysis.

Researchers highlighted that the Arbaeen pilgrimage is among the largest annual human gatherings in the world and represents a unique model of social organization, volunteer-based service, and humanitarian solidarity. They noted that this creates broad opportunities for specialized research across fields including social sciences, humanities, management, and cultural studies.
