More Than 1.8 Million Foreign Pilgrims Enter Iraq for Arbaeen from 172 Countries

More than 1.8 million foreign pilgrims from 172 nationalities have entered Iraq to participate in the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), according to Iraq’s Security Media Cell.

Lieutenant General Saad Maan, head of the Security Media Cell, said that 1,813,188 international visitors had arrived in Iraq from the beginning of Muharram until the latest reporting period to take part in the annual pilgrimage. He described the figures as reflecting the global scale and international dimension of Arbaeen.

Maan added that the management of the large-scale gathering is being carried out through coordinated security and organizational plans involving government institutions and the Higher Committee for Million-Visitor Pilgrimages. He also praised the efforts of the holy shrines, Hussaini service processions (mawakib), and volunteer teams involved in supporting pilgrims.

The number of arrivals is expected to continue increasing as the Arbaeen commemoration approaches, with millions of pilgrims from inside Iraq and abroad traveling toward the holy city of Karbala.
