The southern Swedish city of Malmö hosted a walking mourning procession to commemorate the Arbaeen anniversary of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), with the participation of followers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), members of various communities, and local residents.

According to Swedish media reports monitored by Shia Waves Agency, the procession was organized by Islamic associations in Malmö as part of an annual tradition that has continued since 2002. The event aims to commemorate Arbaeen and highlight the principles and message of Imam Hussein’s uprising.

Participants included Shia Muslims and non-Muslims from several Swedish cities and towns, as well as visitors from Denmark, Norway, and the United Kingdom, reflecting the diverse background of those attending the event.

Swedish police accompanied the procession to provide security and manage traffic, while participants walked through the city streets commemorating the events of Karbala and the values of sacrifice, perseverance, and standing against injustice associated with Imam Hussein’s legacy.

The event also included the distribution of food and water to participants and passersby, along with informational materials in Swedish and other languages introducing the life of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), the objectives of his movement, and the values of freedom, justice, equality, and opposition to oppression.
