Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadeq al-Husseini al-Shirazi emphasized that Hussaini rituals are not limited to mourning and emotional expressions, but represent a broader message and responsibility that extends globally. He called for spreading love for Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and strengthening awareness of his legacy among peoples and nations.

In a statement marking the beginning of the month of Muharram, al-Shirazi said: “Hussaini rituals today are not merely about weeping; they are a responsibility to spread the love of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) on a global level.”

The religious authority also highlighted the importance of visiting Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), stating that neglecting the pilgrimage without a valid religious excuse represents a form of failure toward him. He said that only those prevented by legitimate circumstances could be exempt from this responsibility.

His Eminence has repeatedly stressed the importance of promoting Hussaini culture and its humanitarian values in different societies, describing it as a source of justice, freedom and dignity. He emphasized the role of these teachings in personal spiritual development, social reform and moving beyond narrow identities toward broader human values.
