Thousands Join Great Ashura March in London to Commemorate Imam Hussein’s Martyrdom

Thousands of mourners took part in the Great Ashura March in London to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, his family, and his companions on the 10th of Muharram.

The procession moved through central London in an organized and peaceful atmosphere, with participants from various Muslim communities and national backgrounds raising black and Husseini banners, reciting elegies, and chanting slogans recalling the tragedy of Karbala.

Mourners said the march was an expression of loyalty to Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and a reaffirmation of the values represented by his uprising, including truth, justice, dignity, reform, and resistance to oppression.

Participants emphasized that holding Ashura commemorations in the heart of the British capital helps introduce wider society to the humanitarian message of Karbala and the principles defended by Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in support of the oppressed.

The London Ashura procession is among the most prominent annual Husseini events held in the United Kingdom during Muharram. Its large turnout reflects the enduring presence of the Husseini cause among Muslims and devotees of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, across the world.
