According to Shia Waves Agency, Guterres said in his Eid al-Adha message that the religious occasion is an opportunity to promote empathy, compassion, and collective responsibility among nations. He added that these values can help inspire efforts to reduce tensions around the world.
In his message, published on the social media platform X, the UN secretary-general said that values such as social solidarity, sympathy, and community spirit are more important than ever and should be reflected in policies and international relations.
Guterres also stressed that promoting dialogue and peaceful coexistence can help the world overcome current crises and offer an alternative to paths based on violence and division.
