Millions Expected to Visit Karbala on Day of Arafah and Eid al-Adha Amid Extensive Security, Service Plans
———————————-
Karbala is preparing to host millions of pilgrims from within Iraq and abroad during the Day of Arafah and the Eid al-Adha celebrations, with intensified security and service measures to ensure smooth visitation and a safe, organized environment for attendees.
Authorities have announced a comprehensive plan tailored to the nature of the pilgrimage and the anticipated large crowds. Estimates suggest millions will participate in the Arafah rituals and visit the holy shrines during the Eid period.
Major General Tahseen Al-Khafaji, Director of Media and Moral Guidance at the Ministry of Defense, stated that the plan accounts for the religious significance of the pilgrimage and includes coordination among the Karbala Operations Command, the Popular Mobilization Forces, intelligence units from the Ministry of Interior, and other security agencies. Continuous security operations are being conducted to safeguard the city and its access routes.
The measures have been designed to match the scale of the event, ensuring the smooth flow of pilgrims while maintaining the highest standards of safety and order.
Karbala annually experiences massive turnout during the Day of Arafah and Eid al-Adha as believers visit the shrines of Imam Hussein and his brother Abul-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon them), making it one of the most significant religious gatherings attracting worshippers from across Iraq and the wider Islamic world.
