Grand Ayatullah Shirazi Office in Syria Commemorates Martyrdom of Imam Muhammad al‑Jawad (peace be upon him) in Sayyida Zainab

The office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al‑Husseini al‑Shirazi organized mourning gatherings in the Sayyida Zainab area of Damascus to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Muhammad al‑Jawad (peace be upon him). The events highlighted the Imam’s life, moral and scholarly contributions, and dedication to guidance of humanity.

Sheikh Hassan Abd al-Hadi al-Shahristani, director of the Shirazi office in Syria, said the gatherings serve as a renewed tribute to the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them) and provide an opportunity to strengthen believers’ connection with their teachings and reaffirm loyalty to their path.

The ceremony began with Quranic recitations, followed by a lecture from Sheikh Mustafa Sharaf, who discussed the Imam’s early wisdom, profound knowledge, and principled stand against injustice despite his young age.

Al-Shahristani emphasized that these gatherings aim to preserve the traditions of the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them), instill their values in the community, and safeguard their teachings against attempts to undermine or marginalize Shia scholarship. He noted that the events reflect the continuation of the authentic Muhammadan school and reinforce religious and cultural awareness among the faithful.
