The office of the senior religious authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, in Iraq’s Basra province held a celebratory ceremony marking the birth anniversaries of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Rida and his sister, Lady Fatima al-Masuma (peace be upon them both).
The event took place in a spiritual atmosphere filled with expressions of joy and reverence, according to the office statement.
Organizers said the commemoration aligns with recommendations attributed to Grand Ayatollah Shirazi, which encourage observance of the “Ten Days of al-Rida” and the promotion of teachings associated with the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), as well as raising public awareness of their biographies and moral legacy across different segments of society.
The ceremony was attended by religious scholars, academic and cultural figures, along with a gathering of followers and supporters who participated in the observance of the occasion.
The program included speeches highlighting the virtues and historical significance of Fatima al-Masuma and Imam Reza (peace be upon them both), emphasizing their roles in preserving Islamic teachings and promoting values of compassion, knowledge, and piety. The event also featured devotional poetry and religious chants expressing reverence for the two figures in Shia tradition.
