UN envoy to Yemen calls for unified international support for peace process

The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, has stressed the need for a unified international position to support the country’s peace process amid the ongoing conflict.
In a statement marking the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, Grundberg said maintaining momentum in the UN-led political process remains an urgent priority, as Yemen’s war continues after more than a decade and peace efforts face growing challenges.
He said Yemenis need a united international stance in support of peace efforts more than an ideal global system, urging coordinated action to help end the conflict.
The envoy also warned that rising regional and international tensions linked to wider Middle East conflicts make it even more important to keep focus on Yemen and prevent the issue from being sidelined.
Grundberg added that his office will continue working with regional and international actors to ensure consistent and effective support for a political settlement, aimed at restoring stability and reducing humanitarian suffering in Yemen.
