The office of the Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadegh al-Husseini al-Sheirazi, announced that Sunday is the first day of the sacred month of Dhu al-Qi’dah for the year 1447 AH.

A brief statement issued by His Eminence’s office stated that Sunday, April 19, 2026, is the first day of Dhu al-Qi’dah, based on the legal criteria relied upon for the sighting of the crescent moon.

This announcement is part of the Marja’s office’s periodic follow-up in determining the beginnings of the lunar months, which are relied upon by many believers in various countries to perform their religious rites and organize events related to the Islamic calendar.

It is worth noting that the month of Dhu al-Qi’dah is considered one of the sacred months in Islam, holding a special status due to the religious and spiritual significance it carries for Muslims.
