Muslims in Tatarstan Launch Fundraising Campaign to Support Dagestan Flood Victims
———————————–
A charitable foundation in Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan has launched an urgent fundraising campaign to assist victims of recent flooding in the neighboring Republic of Dagestan, following heavy rains that triggered a humanitarian crisis in the region.
The initiative was announced by the Zakat Foundation of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Tatarstan, which said the floods had inundated residential areas, leaving many families displaced and without basic necessities.
According to local reports, emergency and rescue operations are ongoing in Dagestan, where responders are working to evacuate residents and livestock from affected areas. Authorities have indicated that the full scale of the damage remains unclear due to continued flooding and the expanding scope of the disaster.
Campaign organizers outlined a range of urgent needs, including protective gear for rescue teams, emergency equipment, generators, lighting supplies, and water purification materials. Basic food items such as canned goods and instant cereals are also in high demand to support affected families.
The foundation stated that it is accepting monetary donations only, explaining that purchasing supplies inside Dagestan would ensure faster and more efficient delivery of aid to those in need.
In its appeal, the organization called on individuals and institutions to contribute to relief efforts, emphasizing that the campaign is driven by humanitarian and religious responsibility, as well as a commitment to solidarity with communities affected by natural disasters.
