US Lawmaker Urges Muslim Leaders to Condemn Attacks, Calls for Action Against Extremism

U.S. Representative Andy Ogles has called on Muslim leaders across the United States to publicly condemn a series of recent attacks, saying silence risks fueling public concern about extremism.
According to Fox News, Ogles issued an open letter addressed to mosques, imams, and Muslim organizations, urging them to denounce violence and reject any religious justification for attacks. He referenced four recent incidents under investigation as possible acts of terrorism, including shootings and an attempted bombing.
Ogles said stronger public statements from Muslim leaders could help “isolate extremists” and reassure the public, adding that he is open to dialogue but would continue advocating policy measures if concerns are not addressed.
The remarks come amid heightened scrutiny following multiple security incidents in the United States earlier this month.
