The holy city of Karbala marked the arrival of the Persian New Year 1405 (Hijri Shamsi) on Friday with large crowds of pilgrims gathering at the shrines of Imam Hussein and AbalFazl al-Abbas (peace be upon them both), creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.

Pilgrims from various regions traveled to the shrines to begin the new year in proximity to the revered sites. From the early hours of the morning, courtyards and halls of the shrines were filled with worshippers reciting prayers, performing ziyarat rituals, and preparing for the exact moment marking the start of the year.

As the new year began, chants of “Labbaik Ya Hussein” echoed throughout the shrines, while pilgrims raised their hands in prayer, marking the occasion with devotion and hope. Many spent the first hours of the year reciting special supplications and offering prayers for relief, stability, and well-being for Muslims around the world.

The ceremony was broadcast live on Imam Hussein TV, providing global audiences with real-time coverage of the event, including prayers, ziyarat recitations, and special New Year programs. The broadcast conveyed the spiritual atmosphere in Karbala to viewers worldwide.

Images from the event showed scenes of unity, faith, and emotional connection, allowing those unable to attend to share in the experience. Pilgrims expressed their devotion through prayers and religious chants, reflecting strong communal bonds.

The presence of children, youth, and adults together highlighted a sense of social and spiritual cohesion, presenting an image of continuity in religious traditions and devotion to the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
