Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husayni al-Shirazi emphasized the importance of adopting the governance principles of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him), highlighting his commitment to justice, ethical integrity, and the welfare of the people as a model for contemporary leadership.

In a statement published on the official Shirazi channel website, the religious authority noted that Imam Ali (peace be upon him) prioritized principles over personal power, maintaining his values even if it meant relinquishing the caliphate. “Imam Ali did not seek authority for its own sake; he viewed leadership as a responsibility grounded in justice and service to the community,” His Eminence said.

He urged current leaders, particularly in Islamic countries, to follow Imam Ali’s approach, which emphasizes compassion toward citizens, fair treatment, respect for rights, and avoidance of oppression. The Supreme leader stressed that commemorating Imam Ali’s legacy should go beyond emotional reflection and serve as a practical guide for building just societies and governance structures that uphold human dignity.
