More than 800 Muslims representing 47 nationalities gathered for a large communal iftar (fast‑breaking) meal at the Taipei Grand Mosque earlier this week, highlighting solidarity and peaceful coexistence within Taiwan’s diverse Muslim community.
The event brought together worshippers from Asia, Africa and Europe, creating a multicultural gathering that organizers said went beyond a seasonal religious occasion to strengthen human and religious bonds among Muslims residing in or visiting Taiwan.
Observers noted that the mosque’s halls and courtyards were filled with participants who maintained orderly conduct and demonstrated shared values of faith, cooperation and mutual support during the dinner. Volunteers played an active role in ensuring the event’s success, reflecting community engagement and responsibility.
Organizers and attendees described the gathering as a vivid expression of unity and cooperation, with participants sitting at shared tables to break their fast together. They said the event also illustrated the role mosques can play as centers of social cohesion and cultural integration in a multicultural environment.
The iftar at Taipei Grand Mosque underscores the expanding presence of organized Islamic activities in Taiwan during Ramadan, providing opportunities for community building, inter‑cultural interaction, and reaffirmation of shared humanitarian values.
