Grand Ayatullah Shirazi: Praying for Imam Mahdi Is Key to Overcoming Global Crises

Senior Shiite religious authority Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Hosseini Shirazi said that increasing prayers for the reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi (peace be upon him) and the reform of world affairs through him represents the most effective path to saving humanity from widespread trials and hardships.

The remarks were delivered during an address to a gathering of religious preachers on the occasion of the approaching holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH, at his residence in the holy city of Qom.

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi pointed to the spread of multiple political, economic, and social challenges across the world, noting that both Muslim and non-Muslim countries are facing various forms of hardship. He cited issues such as family disintegration, difficulties surrounding marriage, conflicts, acts of violence, and what he described as contemporary social deviations.

He stressed that the optimal solution to these challenges lies in frequent prayers for relief and divine intervention, citing a saying attributed to Imam al-Mahdi (peace be upon him) that calls on believers to increase supplications for deliverance, describing it as integral to relief itself.

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi also emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong spiritual connection with the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), particularly Imam al-Mahdi (peace be upon him), saying such devotion plays a significant role in personal and societal reform and in promoting security and stability.

He concluded by underscoring that prayer and adherence to divine guidance remain essential means for confronting the trials facing the modern world.
