Istanbul Launches “Alo Iftar” Hotline to Deliver Free Ramadan Meals to Homes
———————————-
Authorities in Istanbul’s Esenler district have launched a special hotline known as “Alo Iftar” to provide free iftar meals to households during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to local officials, the service is aimed at families who are unable to prepare iftar meals due to work commitments, health conditions, or other circumstances. Each meal package is designed to serve up to four people and is delivered free of charge.
The initiative will continue throughout Ramadan, with municipal teams preparing the meals daily and delivering them directly to residents’ homes.
Al Jazeera reported that the program is part of broader social support efforts by the Esenler municipality to strengthen social solidarity and reflect the communal spirit of Ramadan.
Local officials said the hotline allows residents to request assistance easily, ensuring that vulnerable families can observe the fast with dignity and access to proper meals during the holy month.
The initiative highlights ongoing municipal efforts in Istanbul to expand social services and support community cohesion during religious occasions.
