A women’s Qur’an recitation competition was held in the southern Croatian city of Dubrovnik as part of the fourth edition of the educational program “Welcoming the Month of Ramadan,” organized from February 6 to 8, 2026. The event brought together more than 400 women from various cities across the country.

The competition was organized as part of spiritual and educational preparations for the holy month of Ramadan. It aimed to encourage continuity in learning the Qur’an, improve recitation skills, and highlight the role of Qur’anic study circles led by female instructors within local councils affiliated with the Islamic Community in Croatia.

The three-day program was supervised by teachers from the Islamic Community and followed an educational approach combining spiritual preparation, knowledge development, and collective awareness. Activities included Qur’an recitations, religious lectures, sessions of remembrance and devotional chanting, as well as educational and social initiatives.

Participants attended from several cities, including Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Pula, Sisak, Karlovac, Labin, and Umag, reflecting the program’s expanding national scope and its role as a unifying platform for Muslim women. The gathering also contributed to strengthening communication and solidarity among participants.

The program additionally featured humanitarian and charitable activities, underscoring the link between educational efforts and social responsibility. Organizers said the initiative reflects the growing development of women-led Islamic activities in Croatia, moving from seasonal events toward structured educational projects with lasting impact.
