Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Nearness to Imam Mahdi Is Achieved Through Deeds and Commitment

Senior Shiite religious authority Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi has stressed that true nearness to Imam al-Mahdi (peace be upon him) is not achieved through affection alone, but through action and practical commitment to his teachings and guidance.
The remarks were published on the official website of his office in conjunction with the observance of Mid-Sha’ban, which marks the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi. Ayatollah Shirazi noted that while love for the Imam represents an important spiritual value, it is insufficient unless it is translated into conduct that aligns with the Imam’s commands and prohibitions.
He explained that believers draw closer to the Imam of the Age through adherence to Islamic legal rulings, the cultivation of proper Islamic manners and ethics, and acting upon the teachings of the Imams of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). He emphasized that such commitment constitutes the true standard for closeness to the Imam.
His Eminence has repeatedly highlighted, on various occasions, the importance of maintaining a conscious and practical connection with the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and with Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance), whom he described as a Divine hope for saving humanity from injustice, corruption, and the evils confronting the contemporary world. He has called for this connection to serve as a motivation for both personal and societal reform.
