On Monday, February 2, 2026, the Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Florida) will hold its annual Muslim Day at the Capitol (MDAC) in Tallahassee, the organization’s website reported.

The event, organized by the state’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy group, brings together mosques, schools, community centers, immigrant advocacy organizations, professionals, and individuals committed to civic engagement.

Participants will meet with Florida senators and representatives to discuss key policy issues affecting First Amendment rights, including freedom of speech, assembly, and petition. The legislative agenda includes bills such as HB 1471 and HB 1473, which concern public records and terrorism-related designations, as well as HB 111/SB 1072 addressing antisemitism, and other measures related to religious recognition and public transparency.

Hiba Rahim, Interim Executive Director of CAIR-Florida, said the event highlights threats to constitutional protections, stating, “Bills like HB 1471 and HB 1473 are a direct assault on the First Amendment…By targeting beliefs and ideologies rather than criminal conduct, these bills dismantle protections that belong to every Floridian.”

A press conference will take place on February 2 from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m., featuring CAIR officials, Florida lawmakers, and a family representative of Mohammed Ibrahim. The event will be streamed live on CAIR-Florida and CAIR National Instagram channels.

CAIR-Florida continues its mission to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, and empower American Muslims.
