French Lawmaker Raises Alarm Over Website Tracking Muslims
…….
A French member of parliament has raised concerns over a website she says tracks Muslims across France by mapping their presence and residential concentrations, Al Jazeera reported. Sabrina Sebaihi, a lawmaker from the Green Party, warned that the platform poses serious security risks to Muslim communities.
Sebaihi said the website provides interactive maps showing areas with high numbers of residents bearing Arab or Muslim names, as well as the locations of mosques. She described the site as a direct threat that could fuel harassment or attacks, particularly amid a reported rise in assaults on mosques and on women wearing headscarves in public spaces.
The lawmaker said she filed an official complaint with the interior minister, calling for the case to be referred to prosecutors and for a formal investigation to shut down the site. An anti-racism organisation has also joined the legal action. Sebaihi urged authorities to counter hate-driven initiatives, stressing the need to protect citizens’ rights and ensure the safety of all communities in France.
