Drone Strike Hits North Darfur Market Amid Humanitarian Withdrawal
—————————–
At least 10 civilians were killed following a drone strike on the “Al-Harra” market in the town of Al-Malha, North Darfur. According to Agence France-Presse (AFP) and local medical sources, the strike occurred during peak market hours, causing significant casualties and destruction in an area that has become a refuge for thousands of displaced persons.
According to humanitarian reports, the identity of the group behind the drone attack remains unconfirmed, as both the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have increasingly utilized unmanned aerial vehicles in the region. The tragedy in Al-Malha coincided with a worsening crisis in Kadugli, where international aid organizations have reportedly begun withdrawing staff due to a tightening siege and “famine-like conditions.”
According to the United Nations, the withdrawal of relief workers from besieged zones leaves hundreds of thousands of civilians without access to life-saving food or medical supplies. Local monitors warn the intensification of drone warfare in civilian-populated areas like Al-Malha is further complicating the delivery of aid and exacerbating the displacement crisis in North Darfur.
