According to UN sources, Nigerian authorities have freed 100 students who were abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Niger State.

As reported by Shia Waves Agency, citing Reuters, the fate of 165 other students and staff members who remain in captivity is still unknown.

In November, a total of 315 people were kidnapped by armed assailants, though around 50 managed to escape shortly afterward.

Local media said the freed students were being transported to the capital, Abuja, before being handed over to state officials, but no details have been released regarding how their release was secured.

Nigeria continues to struggle with widespread mass abductions and armed violence. Attacks by militant groups and criminal gangs remain a major threat to security and to the daily lives of both Muslims and Christians across the country.
