AirAsia to offer Hijab Option for Female Cabin Crew in 2026

AirAsia will allow female flight attendants to wear the hijab as part of their uniform starting in early 2026, IQNA reported.
The airline has updated its cabin crew uniform policy to allow female crew members to wear the hijab while on duty if they choose, with the rollout scheduled for the first quarter of 2026 during Ramadan.
Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, said, “I am proud that this latest update reflects AirAsia’s growth and expansion as a global airline with a diverse workforce that mirrors the communities and cultures we connect every day. Our uniforms have always reflected professionalism, safety and comfort, and this evolution builds on that foundation by giving our people the confidence to represent AirAsia in ways that align with their beliefs.”
Previously, the hijab was only used on certain routes, such as Jeddah, where local regulations require it. The policy now extends this flexibility to all female cabin crew, ensuring consistency across AirAsia’s network while maintaining the airline’s professional and distinctive brand identity.
AirAsia’s iconic red cabin crew uniform will remain unchanged, with the professionally tailored hijab and pants option reflecting the same design currently used on Jeddah routes, ensuring comfort, safety, and brand consistency across its network.
