Shia communities around the world observed the martyrdom anniversary of Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her) with mourning ceremonies, recitations, and symbolic processions honoring the daughter of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure family).

Participants carried a symbolic coffin, recited elegies, and performed chest-beating rituals to commemorate the memory of Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her), highlighting the continuation of Shia mourning traditions in the city.

According to Shia Waves Agency, similar ceremonies were held in other countries with strong Shia communities. In Qom, Iran, a symbolic procession carried the coffin from Hosseiniyeh Dar al-Hossein to the residence of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi, where Ayatollah Sayyid Hussein Shirazi received the mourners.

In London, Hosseiniyeh Hazrat Rasool Azam hosted gatherings of mourning societies and representatives of Ayatollah al-Uzma Shirazi. In Damascus, the Zainabiya Seminary, including its women’s section, held ceremonies featuring Quran recitation, religious guidance, and a dramatic representation of the attack on the house of Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her).

In Karbala, the office of the Marja’iyya organized two mourning assemblies with speeches and Quranic recitation, while in Najaf, the Center for Strategic Studies hosted a ceremony led by Hojjat al-Islam Sheikh Kazem al-Shammari.

These events, spanning multiple continents, aimed to honor the elevated status of Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her), preserve the memory of her martyrdom, and promote the culture of Hussaini mourning among Shia communities worldwide. The Lucknow procession, in particular, highlighted local participation and the intergenerational transmission of Shia devotional practices.
