Halal Food Sees Rapid Growth in Popularity Across the United States
———————————
Halal food, once associated mainly with observant Muslim consumers, is increasingly entering the American mainstream as demand rises among both Muslim and non-Muslim diners, IQNA reported. Restaurants of all types — including Chinese, Mexican, Italian and specialty eateries — are now incorporating halal meat into their menus, reflecting a broader shift in consumer preferences.

According to a recent report by CBS News, several factors are driving the trend. The expansion and growing diversity of the U.S. Muslim population has naturally increased demand for halal-certified products. At the same time, many non-Muslim consumers are turning to halal options because they associate them with ethical sourcing and higher quality standards. Halal slaughter methods (zabiha), the avoidance of additives and alcohol, and perceptions of cleaner, more responsible food practices have broadened the appeal.

Availability has also surged. Major supermarket chains, food delivery platforms, fast-food brands and mobile food vendors have all entered the halal market, making certified products far easier to access than in previous years. This growth aligns with a national rise in consumer awareness regarding food origin, sustainability and quality.

The shift suggests that halal is increasingly viewed not only as a religious requirement but also as a marker of ethical, ecological and high-quality dining. As a result, halal food is steadily becoming a widely accepted dietary choice embraced by Americans from diverse backgrounds.
