Blast at Weapons Depot in Northwest Syria Kills Five, Injures Nine
…………..
An explosion at a weapons storage site in northwest Syria’s Idlib province killed five people and injured nine others on Wednesday, Arab News reported. Idlib security forces said the blast occurred in the town of Kafr Takharim and was triggered by a warehouse containing missiles and ammunition, where work was reportedly underway at the time.
The victims were identified as site workers. State television confirmed the casualty toll but did not specify the cause of the explosion. Images and videos circulating on social media showed extensive destruction, fires and damage to nearby farmland, with shrapnel striking shops and residential areas.
The Idlib region, once a stronghold for rebel and militant groups during Syria’s civil war, has seen similar incidents in the past. In August, authorities reported four deaths following an explosion at another weapons depot on the outskirts of the province.
