Lebanon Moves to File Complaint Over Israeli Border Wall
………..

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has instructed the foreign minister to begin preparing a formal complaint against Israel for allegedly constructing a wall inside Lebanese territory, according to a statement from the president’s office, as reported by media outlets. The request includes citing findings from the United Nations peacekeeping mission UNIFIL, which said on Friday that the Israeli military built a barrier southwest of the border village of Yaroun.

UNIFIL reported that the structure extended beyond the demarcated border, blocking access to more than 4,000 square meters of Lebanese land and breaching U.N. Security Council resolutions that ended the 2023–2024 Israel-Hezbollah conflict. The mission said it has notified the Israeli army and demanded the wall’s removal. Israel’s military stated that the barrier, initiated in 2022, is part of broader reinforcement efforts along the northern frontier and insisted it does not cross the U.N.-designated Blue Line.
