Indian Security Forces Detain Over 1,500 in Wide Kashmir Crackdown
……………
Indian security forces have carried out a large-scale crackdown in Kashmir, detaining more than 1,500 people during three days of raids and intensified house searches. Local sources said those arrested included women, doctors, youth and relatives of pro-independence activists, as well as critics of Indian policies, including some living outside the region. The operations reportedly aimed to increase pressure on residents and curb both armed and non-armed opposition.
Authorities searched homes and seized documents, digital devices and other belongings. In Baramulla alone, 16 properties were searched and 10 people were detained under strict security laws, while hundreds of others from Ganderbal and Kulgam were transferred to local prisons. Reports indicate the arrests are part of broader efforts to keep Kashmiri communities under sustained pressure and limit demands for self-determination.
