The city of Dois Vizinhos in southwest Paraná, Brazil, has inaugurated its first mosque and Islamic cultural and charitable center, marking a significant milestone in the history of Islam’s presence in Latin America.

The new facility, named the Dois Vizinhos Islamic Cultural and Charitable Center and Dois Vizinhos Mosque, was established by the Center for Islamic Da’wah in Latin America (CDIAL). It aims to promote interfaith dialogue, cultural understanding, and values of faith, tolerance, and solidarity within Brazil’s diverse society.

The opening ceremony was attended by several prominent religious and civic figures, including city mayor Luis Carlos Turatto; Dr. Ayed Hassan Al-Rubaie, cultural advisor at the King Fahd Islamic Center in Argentina; Dr. Abdul Hamid Metwally, president of the Supreme Council of Imams and Islamic Affairs in Latin America; and Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, representative of Lebanon’s Dar al-Ifta in Brazil and Latin America.

The initiative reflects collaboration between the local Muslim community and cultural institutions to strengthen peaceful coexistence and community ties. The agricultural city of Dois Vizinhos, known for its cultural diversity, now hosts a new symbol of interfaith harmony in Brazil.
