The Iraqi Council of Ministers, chaired by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, has approved the adoption of a federal electronic visa system to serve as a unified platform for issuing entry permits and streamlining services for visitors and residents. According to an official statement, the system will also integrate the issuance of health insurance documents through licensed insurance companies contracted with the Health Insurance Authority.

All entry visas will require proof of health insurance obtained via the platform, with related fees directed to the authority. The platform will also manage services and documents for foreign residents to unify and simplify procedures.

The cabinet further decided to extend the system’s health insurance services to groups not covered by electronic visas, ensuring consistency in procedures. In the same session, the government allocated more than 5 billion dinars to support the National Cybersecurity Center, with the Communications and Media Commission contributing 5.3 billion dinars under the federal budget law.
