Cyberattack on Airline Systems Causes Delays at Major European Airports

A cyberattack on a third-party system provider has caused widespread flight disruptions and delays at several major European airports, including London’s Heathrow, Brussels, and Berlin, Anadolu Agency reported. The attack occurred on a Friday night, affecting automated check-in and boarding systems and forcing airports to revert to manual operations.

The targeted system was identified as the MUSE software, provided by Collins Aerospace, which is used for passenger check-in and baggage drop. The attack led to flight cancellations and significant delays.

Brussels Airport confirmed at least four flight cancellations on Saturday morning, and both Brussels and Berlin airports warned passengers to expect longer wait times. London Heathrow also advised passengers to check their flight status with their airlines.

Collins Aerospace stated that the impact was limited to electronic check-in and could be managed manually. The company is working to restore full functionality, but the duration of the outage remains uncertain. EasyJet’s operations were reportedly unaffected by the cyberattack.
