The Al-Kafeel Museum for Treasures and Manuscripts at the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine announced that half of the restoration program for artifacts belonging to the Al-Askariyain Holy Shrine in Samarra has been completed.
Dr. Shouqi al-Moussawi, deputy head of the museum, said more than 145 valuable items were received in the first batch and subjected to examination, cleaning, and conservation.
The process followed a structured plan, beginning with documentation and laboratory tests, followed by mechanical cleaning, restoration, stabilization, and protective preservation in line with international standards.
Laboratory chief Sajjad Hamid noted that specialized teams carried out the work and that efforts are continuing to complete the remaining tasks. The project is part of preparations to establish a dedicated museum for the Al-Askariyain Shrine’s heritage.
