Nine Mosques in Netherlands Receive Blood-Stained Hate Messages

Nine mosques across several Dutch cities, including Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Arnhem, Tilburg, and The Hague, have received threatening letters smeared with traces of blood, according to public broadcaster NOS. The letters contained offensive drawings and remarks targeting the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), prompting concern among Muslim communities.

Yoram van Klaveren, spokesperson for the K9 platform representing about 250 mosques in the Netherlands, described the messages as intimidation filled with hate speech, calling them “completely unacceptable.” He noted that one letter sent to a Rotterdam mosque warned of the “last days of Islam in Europe,” leaving mosque administrations shocked.

Van Klaveren added that mosques in the Netherlands have faced recurring hate incidents for years and urged authorities to strengthen security measures to protect places of worship. The incidents come amid wider debates on religious coexistence and rising anti-Muslim sentiment across Europe.
