Myanmar Junta Bombs School, Killing 18

An airstrike by Myanmar’s military junta targeted a private boarding school in the Arakan Army-controlled Kyauktaw township of Rakhine State, killing at least 18 civilians, including children, and injuring 20 others.

According to the Anadolu Agency, the attack occurred on a Friday in Thayat Tabin Village. The incident was also reported by the news outlet The Irrawaddy. The report notes that Myanmar has been experiencing prolonged ethnic armed clashes since the junta seized power in 2021. Despite the ongoing violence, the junta has announced it will hold general elections on December 28th of this year.
