Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Stresses Conditions for Enjoining Good and Forbidding Wrong

The daily scholarly session of Grand Ayatollah Sayed Sadiq Hosseini Shirazi was held on Sunday, the 7th of Rabi al-Awwal 1447 AH. As in previous gatherings, the Supreme Marja responded to questions from attendees on various jurisprudential matters.

Addressing the topic of enjoining good and forbidding wrong, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi emphasized that this obligation is subject to four essential conditions outlined in juristic texts.

His Eminence explained that if all the conditions—including the likelihood of having an effect—are met, then the duty must be carried out. However, if even one condition is absent, enjoining good and forbidding wrong is not obligatory.

The remarks highlighted the importance of both understanding the prerequisites and exercising discernment before implementing this key Islamic principle.
