Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Government Permission Not a Condition for Mawakeb Activities, Unless Chaos Ensues

On Tuesday, 2nd Rabi al-Awwal 1447, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Hosseini Shirazi held his regular scholarly session, where his Eminence answered questions on various jurisprudential matters.

Addressing a question regarding the necessity of government authorization for establishing and operating mawakeb (service tents) during Arbaeen, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi stated that obtaining permission from the government is not a prerequisite.

The Supreme Marja clarified, however, that if operating without such permission were to lead to chaos or disorder, then securing authorization would become necessary.

He further emphasized that as long as no disruption or disorder arises, the activities of mawakeb may proceed without government approval.
