In his daily scholarly session held on Thursday 26th of Safar, 1447, Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadiq Hosseini Shirazi addressed questions from attendees concerning various jurisprudential matters.

During the session, His Eminence elaborated on the concept of chastity (ʿiffah), explaining both its linguistic and religious dimensions.

“Linguistically, chastity means refraining from what is improper or indecent,” he said. “In the religious sense, chastity signifies refraining from sins.”

He further emphasized: “In Islamic law, true chastity means that a person distances themselves from disobedience to God with all of their limbs and faculties.”

The remarks highlighted the comprehensive nature of chastity in Islamic teachings, stressing that it encompasses not only outward actions but also the inward discipline required to live in full obedience to divine commandments.
