Syrian Forces Foil Daesh Suicide Attack in Deir ez-Zor’s Al-Mayadin

Syrian security forces thwarted a suicide attack by Daesh militants in the city of Al-Mayadin, Deir ez-Zor province, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Thursday.

According to officials, two Daesh operatives targeted a security checkpoint in the city. One attacker detonated his explosives, while the second was shot dead by internal security forces before he could trigger his device.

Deir ez-Zor’s internal security commander, Dirar al-Shamlan, confirmed that one security officer was killed in the attack. He stressed that operations would continue to eliminate remaining Daesh cells in the region.

The incident underscores the ongoing threat posed by Daesh remnants in eastern Syria, despite years of territorial and leadership losses.
