Shia Muslims across Pakistan commemorated Arbaeen, the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), with large mourning processions held in cities and villages nationwide. The most prominent gathering took place in the capital, Islamabad, where tens of thousands of mourners joined processions honoring the events of Karbala.

Participants said their commitment to attend grows stronger each year, describing their presence as an expression of solidarity with the Prophet’s family and a way to convey to the world their loyalty to Imam Hussein, who stood against tyranny and corruption.

The processions featured mourning rituals and religious observances, emphasizing Arbaeen as a reminder of resistance, patience, and the struggle for justice.

Attendees also voiced support for oppressed communities globally, including in Kashmir, Palestine, and Yemen, stressing that Imam Hussein’s legacy transcends time and place. Organizers described the marches as a reaffirmation of allegiance to truth and a rejection of injustice.
