According to an article from StratNewsGlobal, Malaysia is planning to send a joint delegation to Myanmar to advocate for peace and provide humanitarian assistance to Rohingya refugees. The announcement was made by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during a visit from Bangladesh’s interim head, Muhammad Yunus.

Bangladesh currently hosts over a million Rohingya refugees in the world’s largest settlement. The mission, which will also include partners from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand, is being coordinated by Malaysia’s foreign minister. The delegation aims to address the humanitarian crisis and escalating conflict in Myanmar’s Rakhine state, which has caused approximately 150,000 Rohingya to flee to Bangladesh in the last 18 months, according to the United Nations.
