Based on a report from Clarion India, the UN human rights office has condemned the killing of six journalists in Gaza by Israeli forces, describing it as a “grave breach” of international humanitarian law. The office emphasized that Israel is obligated to respect and protect all civilians, including media professionals.

According to the Gaza Government Media Office, the journalists were killed when the Israeli army targeted a journalists’ tent located near Al-Shifa Hospital. Among the victims were two journalists from Al Jazeera, Anas al-Sharif and Mohamed Qraiqea.

The UN office highlighted the alarming number of journalists killed since the conflict began on October 7, 2023, stating that at least 242 Palestinian journalists have lost their lives. In response, the UN has called for “immediate, safe and unhindered access to Gaza for all journalists.”
