The Misbah al-Hussein Foundation for Relief and Development in Holy Karbala has launched a large-scale water distribution initiative for pilgrims participating in the Arbaeen commemoration of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.

Foundation Director Abdul Sahib al-Kishwan told Shia Waves Agency that the project involves distributing 1.5 million cups of drinking water to visitors making their way to the holy city. The effort is being carried out in cooperation with the Imam Hussein Media Group and the charitable organization IHC.

Al-Kishwan noted that the initiative comes at a time of high temperatures, increasing the demand for drinking water among pilgrims. In addition to providing water directly to participants along pilgrimage routes, the foundation has supplied large quantities to mosques, Hussainiyas, mourning assemblies, and homes hosting visitors during the event.

He added that the campaign is implemented under the guidance of Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, who has consistently emphasized the importance of offering comprehensive support and services to pilgrims, both on the roads to Karbala and within the city during the Arbaeen rituals.

The distribution effort is part of the foundation’s broader humanitarian and service projects aimed at meeting the needs of millions of pilgrims arriving annually from Iraq and abroad.
