The Imam Hussein Holy Shrine in Karbala has announced the introduction of advanced technologies to enhance security measures for the Arbaeen pilgrimage. The system includes the deployment of more than 2,000 smart surveillance cameras equipped with artificial intelligence capabilities, along with strengthened cybersecurity to protect communication networks and related infrastructure.

Secretary-General Hassan Rashid Al-Abayji stated that the smart cameras use advanced data analysis to detect suspicious activity, identify unusual behavior, and monitor violations within the pilgrimage area. The devices are directly connected to the shrine’s control and monitoring rooms, enabling proactive responses through facial recognition and behavioral analysis.

On the digital infrastructure side, the shrine’s communications department has implemented enhanced cybersecurity measures to safeguard internal and external networks and ensure the stability and protection of data against cyberattacks. These initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to maintain safety and order during the annual pilgrimage, which attracts millions of visitors each year.
