Nigerian Muslim Groups Call for Global Action Amid Gaza Humanitarian Crisis
……………….

Muslim organizations and human rights advocates in Nigeria have condemned the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, describing it as a deliberate act of genocide rather than a conflict, according to local reports. At a press briefing in Lagos, representatives expressed outrage over the severe suffering caused by hunger, displacement, and violence affecting thousands of Palestinians.

Speakers highlighted that since October 2023, tens of thousands have died, including many women and children, with hundreds of thousands injured or displaced. The blockade has led to critical shortages of food, fuel, and medical supplies, resulting in widespread starvation and a collapsing healthcare system. Aid workers and journalists have faced significant risks, with numerous casualties reported.

Criticism was directed at international actors, particularly the United States, for their role in enabling military operations through arms supplies and diplomatic support, which some say prolongs the crisis and obstructs peace efforts.

The briefing also called on the global community, especially religious and African leaders, to increase advocacy and pressure governments to open humanitarian corridors and end the siege. Emphasis was placed on the importance of supporting Palestinian self-determination and recognizing statehood without conditions, as part of achieving lasting peace and justice.
